It was necessary

by paigel on August 22, 2010

Everything that happened this weekend was completely necessary. Going to Atlanta, singing/dancing/watching Jack Johnson in the rain with friends, eating foods that inevitably led to my skipping my 16-mile run, buying the giant pack of Twizzlers, purchasing yet another hat– completely necessary.

Ok, I’m still not sure what important role the Twizzlers or the hat play in my life, but I was certainly in need of the rest. There is no therapy that could come close.

I’m not sure how to explain it. Maybe it was all the laughter, maybe it was getting drenched in the rain, or maybe it was the 1 a.m. Waffle House run in my pajamas. But whatever it was, it kicked me back into gear.

I guess, sometimes, it’s important to skip things that you feel pressured to do. I’m not all that proud that I missed my 16-miler and I was a little uneasy about leaving my apartment in the mess that it was in before. But by not worrying about it all, I came back feeling better about tackling all of my projects.
